As this is a translated version of another post I’m assuming a different kind of reader from a more developed country with an ecologic mindset. Maybe you already recycle, got some compost and got your reusable supermarket bag. If that is the case, then you can give me some advice on how to get those habits. In my country this is not the usual situation and the excuse is that they just can’t get used to it. Hence, this series which is all about how to internalize some habits that can help to save (or maybe just avoid destroying) our planet.
I have to clarify that I’m not a crazy person about saving the environment, is not my main concern for the future (probably because I’m a selfish guy) but not destroying it seems like the right thing to do. In the future I would really want to have kids and I don’t want my legacy to be a greyish/fucked-up planet. I want them to see how beautiful is to live on this planet.
This is not a post about “let’s go and save the planet”, “we can be heroes” or “fuck those whale hunters Japanese”. It is just a: know how you can upgrade instantly in the ecological social stratum from “Planet Killer” to “At least it’s not his fault that he is killing the planet anyway” (middle class).
I named it Microecology not because it is a specific genre on the ecological studies, but because it requires only the minimum effort to be effective. You don’t need to buy anything (you can for making it better, pay-to-win), you don’t need to construct anything (like smelly compost) or call anyone. Having said that and considering you (and me) do not want to make some effort to really clean up the planet, you can always help people that want to by subscribing to their environmentalist purposes (here you can subscribe to Greenpeace).
